Design and build (or D/B) is a project delivery system used in the construction industry. It’s a method to deliver a project in which the design and construction services are contracted by us the design–build contractor. From a client’s perspective it relies on a single point of responsibility and is used to minimise risks and cuts time on the delivery schedule by overlapping the design phase and construction phase of a project. Design and Build with its single point responsibility carries the clearest contractual remedies for the client because Olis-Hay will be responsible for all of the work on the project.
The traditional approach for a construction project would consists of initially appointing a designer, and then appointing a contractor to carry out the practical building work. Design and Build changes the traditional sequence of work. It answers the client’s wishes for a single point of responsibility in an attempt to reduce risks and overall costs.
